is the mantra I live by.

Never accept something can't be done. It may have to be done differently, unconventionally, ridiculously, but it can still be done.

For many years I took the long, circuitous route. I tried and succeeded to do whatever everyone else did. I climbed the stairs, waited in the queue, walked the long road, carried the heavy load. All because I didn’t want to be different. (Oh silly me, I forgot I was different all along!) It was entirely exhausting and if I’m deeply honest… a slog.

Eventually I had enough. It took a long time to reach that point.

I made that first phone call to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I wanted to see John Bishop at The Stand. Simple. They arranged that I go to the door person before the opening. I got straight entry, no queue, no one to negotiate on the steep stairs and time to do so, a seat, a table, access to the ‘stars’ toilet (next to my table). All that was missing was the glass of cava and snacks! My sister provided them. John Bishop provided the entertainment. A great time was had. It really was that simple.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing, disabled about me. I just do things differently. We can all find a way x
